The largest monastery in Bulgaria, in a forest valley of the Rila mountains, reached in a day from Plovdiv.
The programme
Rila Monastery is the usual first request from foreign groups. The courtyards, the frescoes and the mountain setting fill a day, with the drive from Plovdiv through the western Rhodopes.
We add a short stop on the way when the group has the time. A guide stays with the visitors inside the monastery.
