📋 Full Tour Itinerary & Experience

Phase 1: Drive Across the Valley of the Roses

Your day begins with a comfortable morning departure from Plovdiv. We head north toward Central Bulgaria, driving through the picturesque landscapes flanked by the Central Balkan Mountains and the Sredna Gora range. This region is the world-famous Rose Valley, which turns into a sea of pink and fragrant blossoms during the late spring.

Phase 2: Mysteries of the Valley of the Thracian Kings

Our first major stops focus on the incredible ancient heritage of the Thracians. The Kazanlak valley contains over a thousand burial mounds.
We will visit the Thracian Tomb of Kazanlak, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the original 4th-century BC tomb is strictly sealed for preservation, you will explore the exact architectural replica right next to it. You will stand under the brick beehive dome (tholos) and admire the beautiful ancient wall paintings that depict royal funeral banquets and chariot races.
Next, we explore Golyama Kosmatka, one of the largest and richest Thracian tombs ever discovered. This monumental structure was the final resting place of the legendary King Seuthes III. Your guide will show you where the bronze head of the king and his golden crown were unearthed, explaining the fascinating solar rituals of this mystic warrior culture.

Phase 3: The Secret of the "Liquid Gold"

Kazanlak is the historical center of Bulgarian rose oil cultivation, an industry that supplies the world's top perfume brands. We will visit a specialized site or museum where you can discover the traditional water-vapor distillation methods used since the 17th century. Depending on the season, you will have the chance to sample unique local treats like rose jam, rose liqueur, and purchase authentic, organic rose cosmetics.

Phase 4: The Golden Domes of Shipka Church

We conclude our day trip with a visit to the breathtaking Shipka Memorial Church (Church of the Nativity). Located at the foot of the historical Shipka Pass, this 19th-century Russian-Orthodox architectural masterpiece stands out with its pink walls, complex mosaics, and shimmering golden onion domes. The temple honors the fallen heroes of the Russo-Turkish War (1877–1878), offering a serene, deeply spiritual atmosphere before we drive back to Plovdiv.
